About Rising Glen Media

Rising Glen Media (RGM) was founded by me, Ryan “Doc” Polk as a way for me to facilitate the growing and, frankly, unexpected interest in my photography and story.

To be honest, I never intended to go beyond selling a few photos here and there; I just loved getting out into the outdoors and taking photos. After a while, I began to realize that my passions could become my profession.

And Rising Glen Media was born.

The Way Forward

While RGM started with photography, we aren’t staying there. I have a vision for where I want the company to go and I am developing a community of people who have the same goals.

Photography

I plan to work with photographers of different disciplines to create a diverse team of collaborators. People will be able to come to us for portrait photography, headshots, stock photos, landscapes, behind the scenes, set photography, wedding photography and even fine art.

Videography/Cinematography

Additionally, I plan to develop a community of videographers that have the ability to tell a story using high-resolution video for things like interviews, promos, commercials, trailers, b-roll, or events such as concerts, weddings, sporting events, and more. The key here, as in all aspects, is story. Even things like b-roll and static interviews will tell a story.

Production Company

Eventually, this will all be groomed into a cohesive community with the talent, experience, and influence to come together as a production company that is capable of producing quality short and feature films for large scale distribution.

We will seek and find the stories that need to be told but don’t have the means to make it through the gauntlet into production and bring it to a wide audience.

It’s a long and ambitious road but, together, we can make it happen.

About the Founder

My name is Ryan but most people call me Doc. I was a medic in the Army for 6 years which is where the nickname originated. On my third combat tour, I was wounded while treating another soldier and was shortly discharged from service.

Despite the services and people available to me, I ended up living on the streets and in the woods for a period of time. But I didn’t stay there. Eventually, I was able to move on and get into a great school where I discovered how to pursue my passions.

I’ve always been a storyteller. I know it’s an overused term; however, for me it remains the best descriptor. When I have a story, I see it as a liquid and I see the various disciplines I love (photography, videography, writing, and acting) as containers. The story fits into whatever container I intend to use.

And that’s what I was doing when Rising Glen Media was born. As the company grew, I let the focus go to the company and off of me as the subject. In that way, we can put the right stories in the right spotlight at the right time.

For my own story, I founded Doc’s Odyssey through Rising Glen Media. Doc’s Odyssey is a place where I share my story of my past and life via my experiences with adventure travel. These stories are shared through the disciplines I love (writing, photography, videography).

Currently, all the social media links connect to Doc’s Odyssey as that is the main platform for the content. As we grow, RGM will launch its own social media and marketing strategies.
